The
City of Nappanee has over 252 acres of parkland Recreational activities
include baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball,
swimming, golf and bocce ball.
South Park is
a three-acre park located in the southwest area of the city and features
playground equipment, an open-air shelter and a large area of green
space.
Westside
Park covers seven acres and includes playground equipment,
a permanent pavilion which is on the National Historic Register
and is available for rentals, an area for youth baseball, massive
beech trees,
as well as a green space area.
Stauffer
Park features playground
equipment
for all ages, lighted basketball and tennis courts, two lighted
youth baseball/softball diamonds, public restrooms, a municipal swimming
pool
and open-air pavilions.
McCormick Creek Golf Course adjoins Stauffer
Park and is a very challenging 18-hole course with reasonable
rates.
The Robert
W. Callander Sportsplex features four lighted softball
diamonds,
a concession stand/restroom, and a 32' x 40' open pavilion.
Derksen
Farm Wetland Area connects to the northeast side of McCormick
Creek
Golf Course. This 35-acre wetland area includes walking trails
and
viewing
area that provides an excellent opportunity to view waterfowl and
small mammals in their natural habitat.
A four-mile bicycle/pedestrian
path connects the parks with not only business district but also tourism.
