Situated in southern
Elkhart County, north central Indiana, Nappanee is surrounded by rich
productive farmland. The City of Nappanee is built on the rich heritage
of the woodworking industry, the railroad, and the Amish Culture. Because
of its location at the junction of U.S. Highway 6 and Indiana State
Road 19, Nappanee is served by a main line of the CSX System and Amtrak.
The 1980 population of Nappanee was 4,694. The 1990 population was 5,510.
This represents a population increase of 816 since 1980, or 15%.
